*PRIMARY FUNCTION: *The Youth Development Professional plans, implements, supervises members and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, supporting our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship.*Positions available at multiple sites in New Haven, North Haven and Wallingford.**KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): *_Prepare Youth for Success_* Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:* promote and stimulate program participation;* provide guidance and role modeling to members;* Ability to _*independently *_supervise up to 20 children._Program Development and Implementation_* Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for groups of 10 or more children.* Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times.* Prepare activity reports.* Ensure a productive environment by participating in weekly staff meetings.* Other administrative or support tasks as assigned.*ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: ** May participate in special programs and/or events.*RELATIONSHIPS: ** *Internal: *Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel./** *External: * Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.*SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: ** *High School diploma or GED required*, additional coursework completed in either a technical school or college setting preferred* A *minumum of two year's experience in working with children in a school or afterschool setting.** Ability to _*independently*_*supervise children required*.* Must be able to work a minimum of 4 shifts per week (Monday through Friday)* Knowledge of youth development.* Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.* Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.* Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.* Valid State Drivers License*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: ** Physical requirements include some physical exertion such as lifting (up to 40 lbs.), stretching and bending in a Club setting as well as standing for long periods of time. The work environment is in a club environment and includes interaction with children ages 5-18 and can be noisy at times.*Hours: ** 6:30AM-8:30AM (AM Care) _Limited spots available_* 3:00PM-6:00PM (After-school, School Year) Mulitple locations available in New Haven, North Haven, and Wallingford* NOTE: Additional summer camp hours may be available*DISCLAIMER: *The information presented indicates the general nature and level of work expected of employees in this classification.
