Overview

SMBC is looking for an individual to supprt the execution of the Third Party Management Operations program. This person will work with other risk functions to develop and implement controls that mitigate third party risks; ensure third party due diligence controls are adequately met; use independent judgment and discretion to identify; analyze and summarize contract and financial risk issues or key points ensuring compliance with Third Party Oversight policies, laws, and regulations; and take the lead in initiatives designed to strengthen the program.



The anticipated salary range for this role is between $114,000 and $138,000. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Responsibilities

    Overall support of the Third-Party Management Operations program
  • Ensure the appropriateness of third-party due diligence for each engagement
  • Coordinate with the business and various SME group to conduct due diligence of third parties
  • Provide status reporting on vendor program metrics to internal business partners, auditors, and regulators.
  • Perform peer review and quality assurance functions.
  • Write risk reports and work with vendors to implement remediation plans and responses.
  • Comprehensive documentation of the identified gaps and related risks to third-party engagements
  • Coach and mentor internal business representatives on third party risk management concepts and requirements
  • Cultivate and leverage relationships with Information Security, Legal, Compliance, Data Governance, Risk Management and other control functions to accomplish objectives
  • Support ad-hoc requests from Internal Audit, Compliance, etc. as needed
  • Create action plans and work with third parties to implement remediation plans and responses
  • Provides summary reports and works with business representatives and vendors to implement remediation plans and responses.
  • Support workstreams related to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading and delivering complex cross functional projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across all organizational tiers and build positive working relationships.
  • Five to seven years+ third-party risk management experience
  • Understanding contractual terms negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain internal and external customer relationships
  • Knowledge of third-party end to end workflow tool
