We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated college students to be part of our Summer Intern program. Paid internships will last approximately 10 weeks between June and August. Our interns will work on projects designed to help them gain real-world, hands-on experience working independently under a supervisor and mentor. They will contribute to project teams and initiatives in their field of study. We're looking for people with the intellectual, analytical, and creative ability to learn quickly, identify issues, and propose innovative solutions.
We have an exciting opportunity for an intern in our Environmental Health and Safety area located in our Tolland, CT headquarters. This is a 32 hour work week position.
Responsibilities
During your 10 week internship, you'll work on a project that's directly related to your field of study, while building your skills and relationships. You will work with the Corporate Director of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) to aid in compliance with various state, federal and international regulations within the EHS discipline. Assignments provide the opportunity to work in industry, leading and participating on project teams that may cover: air, water, waste, chemical management, safety programs and related EHS training requirements. All assignments provide the experience of working in a dynamic business environment and the opportunity to interface with many different levels of employees and management.
What you will be working on for your internship:
* Manage the 2023 EHS Training and Learning Management System
* Update EHS related programs and procedures
* Assist with Migrating Gerber's EHS Management System to Lectra Inet System
* Assist with day-to-day safety requirements, audits and compliance assistance
* Assist with ESG data management to include collection of Electrical Invoices (both Tolland and NYC), Water Invoices, and consolidation of Gerber's various waste streams such as facility waste, cardboard waste, electronic/ewastes, and fluorescent bulbs, etc.
The Intern may also assist with:
* Safety Committee
* Accident Investigation
* Safety Program Review and Improvement
* Assist with Training
* Reconciling regulatory required hazwaste manifests, including logging wastes for ESG reporting
Qualifications
* Currently pursuing at BS in EHS, witht he emphasis on Industrial Safety
* Current Sophomore orJunior enrolled in an undergraduate program; GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale desired
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Must continually strive to acquire new skills in relevant technology and business areas
* Ability to work both independently and in groups
* Ability to prioritize and set goals on shifting priorities
* Effective time management skills
* Prior participation in project or teams with demonstrated contributions, prior Co-op or internship, or other activities related to field of study a plus
* Housing not provided. Must be local candidate or able to secure housing.
