Your Job
We are the Service Mesh team and our team is responsible for facilitating service-to-service communication for all of Indeed. Most notably, we own and operate Indeed s service mesh. We help people get jobs by enabling all Indeed product teams!
You will:
Design, develop, and deliver major features and components to improve and enable service-to-service communication needs for all Indeed product teams in a secure, robust, and scalable way.
Write and review lots of code and think deeply about testing and safely rolling features out
Work with an amazing bunch of extremely talented and collaborative teammates and colleagues
Have the opportunity to influence how infrastructure at Indeed will evolve.
Work closely with teams that are responsible for Kubernetes and security, network engineering, AWS and cloud capabilities, SRE, and more. Being on this team comes with many learning opportunities in the infrastructure area.
Engage with our users across the globe to help them with issues they face and identify features they need
Participate in design reviews, both in and out of the team. We are in a unique position to provide valuable input to product teams building out their systems.
Who You Are
To be successful in this role, you:
Have a BS in Computer Science or related area, or relevant experience.
Have 5 or so years experience doing backend software development in distributed / scalable environments.
Solid foundation in Golang, Kotlin, or Java. Python a plus.
Are eager to learn and not afraid to deep-dive into complex and low-level problems.
Have a strong sense of ownership and follow through.
Are independent; you can seek help as needed and otherwise unblock yourself
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills; our team is remote and scattered across North America so communication is key.
Experience or knowledge in these areas are not a requirement, but will help you jump start your impact on this team:
Kubernetes concepts and operations
AWS or other cloud providers
Networking and security
Envoy
Istio or other control planes
Consul
gRPC, HTTP2

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
