SQL Server DBA (Mid-Senior Level)
Position type: Full-time Location: Remote
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience as a DBA, with a strong background in SQL Server administration and maintenance. This is a mid-senior level position, and we expect the candidate to have a well-rounded knowledge of the complete SQL Server stack. The DBA will be responsible for tasks such as backups, performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery. Additionally, the DBA will be able to work on other data and analytics projects when available.
Responsibilities:
* Work with IT Infrastructure team to optimize hardware configurations and maximize the performance of the server and drives used by each SQL Server instance.
* Update and patch the OS on all servers running SQL Server, SQL Server itself, and SQL adjacent software.
* Implement and monitor back-ups and log shipping processes to ensure the company can meet Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) for assorted services relying on SQL Server
* Identify problem queries and provide recommendations on issues including query optimization and indexes.
* Provide recommendations on server requirements and SQL Server versions for new installs.
* Install and configure new SQL Server instances using best practices and consistent methodology.
* Manage and configure Replication on Publishers, Subscribers, and Distributors
* Manage High-Availability Groups
* Manage server-level and database-level settings for optimum performance and durability.
* During performance incidents help with identifying root causes and identify appropriate fixes
* Configure and utilize monitoring software.
* Monthly Health checks of SQL Servers
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
* 7+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA
* Strong background in SQL Server administration and maintenance
* Experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) technologies
* Experience with backup and recovery, security, and performance tuning
* Equally comfortable working with on-premises and cloud-based (AWS EC2, AWS RDS) servers.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Experience with the SQL First Responder Toolkit is desirable.
