The Role

As an SR Lead, you will be part of a team helping Lumen transform our existing/new customer technology platform to a modernized, cloud platform. You will collaborate with our vendor partners, technology partners, and other architects to help realize Lumen's business strategy through a technical strategy. You will take ownership and lead the architecture vision and roadmaps for the Lumen Edge Gateway platform. You will lead evaluations of vendors' products that will be required to support new products and services. You will help execute the roadmap by developing solutions that progress the Lumen Edge Gateway platform toward the target architecture. Your primary areas of focus will be in the architecture and design of new products and services for the Lumen Edge Gateway platform.

The Main Responsibilities

In addition to the description above, as an SR Lead, you will define technical solutions ensuring alignment end to end. Provide technical leadership for the evolving architectural capabilities of the entire solution. Work closely with other Architects, System Engineers and Developers to ensure that individual program and product strategies align with business and technical objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities include

  • Specifying components and their relationships that consist of end-to-end architecture.
  • Complete high-level and low-level architecture and engineering documentation to support the Lumen Customer Edge project vision.
  • Leading the effort to integrate vendor applications with Lumen's Edge Gateway design. Direct the systems engineering team to support the Lumen Customer Edge requirements.
  • Communicate the desired solution and direction to the development team.
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to developing very detailed test cases in step-by-step patterns.
  • Ability to successfully communicate with partners and leaders across the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills including initiative, teamwork, and high emotional intelligence.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical abilities.
  • Self-starter with a strong desire to learn new technologies.
  • Strong Knowledge of IP Networking including BGP, MPLS, ISIS, VPN, SDN, DNS, Load-balancing, IPSec, and Firewalls.
  • Experience with automation software (for example Vagrant, Puppet, Ansible, Chef).
  • Experience in one or more of the following open-source projects: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenStack, KVM, Linux, Virtualization, REST/NETCONF/RESTCONF
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for Linux server security; ability to implement organizational security standards on Linux platforms.
  • Experience with the following vendors RedHat, ADVA, Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, Palo Alto, and Fortigate.
  • Strong Scripting skills in Python, Bash
  • Strong communication and consensus-building skills which enable interaction with IT partners, business owners, and end users.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated, committed to quality, and a strong desire to meet tight timelines
  • Ability to work with technology, product owners, management, and operations
  • Flexible and creative, easily adaptable to change in a transformative team environment

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
