Position Overview:

This is a unique opportunity to take on a key leadership position in a globally recognized and fast-growing financial services firm. Mitsubishi HC Capital America, Inc. (MHCA) is one of the largest independent commercial finance lenders, specializing in transportation, industrial, clean technology, healthcare, and construction lending.

The incumbent accepts the responsibility for establishing and maintaining the internal control system associated with the essential duties and responsibilities of the functional areas that the incumbent manages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Credit Risk Analysis: Evaluate and analyze underwriting criteria, scores used, score cut thresholds, exposure limits, etc., using regression and analytic tools. Create professional and data-driven proposals to modify processes/ policies and enhance portfolio performance.
  • Loss Forecasting: Compile relevant data (bureau, third party, collateral pricing, macro-economic, etc.) and accurately and consistently quantitatively and qualitatively forecast future losses.
  • Pricing Analysis: Evaluate and optimize loan pricing structure to maintain both market-competitive rates and structures while minimizing losses and enhancing portfolio yields.
  • Data Modeling: Utilize experienced and proven model risk management skills (regression to improve and build new underwriting, pricing, collection call, etc. data models). Models should be highly predictive, robust, and statistically sound.
  • New Business Opportunities: Leverage existing portfolio data and peer benchmark information to determine policies and uniform evaluation criteria to forecast performance for new business opportunities and prioritize prospects.
  • Portfolio Sale/Purchase (business development): Participate in portfolio transaction strategy and efforts, identify segments that perform best/worst and buy/sell portfolio assets accordingly.
  • Optimization: Conduct comprehensive and enterprise-wide data optimization for a high-growth and exciting financial services leader.
  • Data Platform: Recommend & implement powerful and cost-efficient analytical platforms (SAS/R/Python/Power BI).
  • 3rd Party Data/Bureau: Interface with data providers and lead data collection efforts, including bureau archives, bureau attribute selection, third party scores, etc. Integrate external data into internal data repositories and reporting tools.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
KPI s (Key Performance Indicators):
  • Model Risk Management. Perform regular enterprise-wide model testing and overall validation of credit adjudication and other predictive models.
  • Loss forecasting. Perform regular accuracy assessment of reserve/ write-off approach and quantitative and qualitative model inputs via back testing and analyzing point in time allowance vs actual lifetime loss performance
  • Enterprise reporting. Transparency and accessibility i.e., increase and enhance the amount of portfolio data recorded in central repository and made available for analysis.
Responsibility and Decision-Making Authority:

Act independently; Decision-making within Company policy.

Management/Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Currently no direct Management or Supervision of employees.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of data, credit risk and modeling.
  • Deep domain expertise in setting, managing, and analyzing risk-based pricing for various financial services products.
  • Extensive expert-level experience with analytical tools such as SAS, R, SQL, Power BI, Enterprise Guide, Knowledge Seeker, Python, Decision Trees, etc.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate Degree, Bachelor s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Licensing and Certification: None required.

Tools and Equipment Used:
  • Personal computer, copier, phone, and other typical office equipment.
Working Hours:
  • Hours may vary and will require some evening work; frequently requires working 40-45 hours/week depending on business needs.
Travel:
  • Occasional travel related to attendance at industry seminars and other MHCA locations.
Physical Demands:
  • Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment.
  • Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.
  • Ability to speak to and hear customers and/or other employees via phone or in person.
  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from one office location to another.

Salary Range: ( $119,000 to $140,000) per year, plus a discretionary Bonus.

The salary range is determined and based on internal equity, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, and education.
