The Connecticut Humane Society, is seeking an experienced Major Gift Manager in Fairfield County. This position will:
The successful candidate will add leadership and energy to the major gifts program and capital campaign, setting the direction with leadership and growing it to the match the success of the organization's core programs, while also growing the legacy society. This is a hands on position with a nice balance of external donor activities and internal campaign management, including preparing agendas, developing meeting materials and the coordination of cultivation events.
The Major Gifts Manager must be passionate about the mission of the Connecticut Humane Society and able to express that passion articulately and effectively. Doing so will require superior communication skills, including the ability to write well, to speak effectively in groups large and small and in one-on-one conversations, and the ability and willingness to listen actively and attentively. Superior relationship-building skills, both internally and externally, are an absolute requirement and a record of success must be exhibited. This position will need to work collaboratively and effectively with other department members and other senior staff. Frequent and intentional face-to-face donor engagement is a core ingredient to success in this role.
The Manager must be experienced and have proven success securing major gifts and recruiting planned gifts. preferably in Fairfield County. This position requires 3 to 5 years' experience in philanthropy and a Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field. Must have demonstrated experience working with volunteer leadership. This position is centered in Fairfield County and reports to the Director of Development.

- Identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations for both annual giving and a capital campaign. Create solicitation strategies that include multiple philanthropic vehicles.
- Steward planned giving prospects and legacy society members for continued relationships and strong gift commitment.
- Recruit, train and cultivate volunteers for leadership positions.
