WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS
The Environmental, Safety, Health and Quality Manager, manages the plant's environmental, health, safety, security and quality systems to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and company requirements. They also maintain compliance of federal and state required environmental permits and act as a liaison with the regulatory agencies along with compliance and suitability of the plants quality system and acts as the liaison to certifying organizations. The person will also manage product quality to ensure it meets customer needs, acts as the plant liaison to customers and the company's commercial organization concerning product quality. You will also provide direction and guidance to all compliance department personnel including the Environment Specialist, Safety Coordinator, Lab Supervisor and Lab Technicians. Additionally you will ensure that ESH &Q standards are consistently satisfied while reliably producing high quality product within specified cost and scheduling guidelines. You will also function as the primary interface with the USW represented employees including handling grievances and supporting the Plant Manager with grievance settlement. Finally, you will participate as a key member of the management team during Union management meetings, grievance arbitrations, and other Management union interactions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Ensure occupational safety and environmental regulatory compliance via completion/submission of required government and company internal reports.
Function as the Plant liaison with Federal, State and Local officials concerning compliance matters.
Identifying applicable regulatory requirements and develop courses of action to ensure future compliance. Provide management with interpretations of current legislative and regulatory activities. Ensure that managers are aware of and in compliance with all codes and regulations affecting their responsibilities.
Supervise/coordinate the Environmental Engineer, Safety Coordinator, QA Supervisor activities.
Develop/assist departments in implementing plant EHSS standards and procedures. Identifying applicable regulatory requirements and develop courses of action to ensure future compliance. Provide management with interpretations of current legislative and regulatory activities. Ensure that managers are aware of and in compliance with all codes and regulations affecting their responsibilities.
Ensure appropriate investigations, root cause(s) and corrective actions are identified/completed.
Acts as the plant liaison to the Commercial Group and customers concerning quality matters and Customer Quality Notification resolution.
Owns and maintains the plants EHS&Q Business Processes System.
Manage/administer EHSQ budgets and spending.
Ensure safe and incident-free operations through compliance with Roehm and site ESH standards through daily attention to safety practices, work conditions and training. Audit the workplace to validate adherence to specified standards.
Function as the primary Roehm liaison with the Union for all matters concerning the potential deviations from the contract. Provide guidance to the Plant Manager on Union grievances and contractual related issues and opportunities.
Administer the performance management process to enhance employee productivity.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree. Five to ten years of practical experience in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated confidence and competence in both written and oral communications.
Working knowledge of standards, programs, processes, and practices in process and occupational safety, environmental compliance, and quality management systems in an OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety Management facility.
Excellent Human Relations and Communication skills. Experience working in a union represented environment.
Knowledge of SAP.
