POSITION SUMMARY

The Director Procurement leads the Procurement Team to ensure optimize inventory management to support all manufacturing and distribution locations to achieve our targeted important level of customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for the strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management in support of Laticretes overall Strategic Plan. Responsibilities include locating sources of materials and services and ensuring the agreements/contracts are in place to maximize value while minimizing the risk of interruptions in the supply chain. Cost reduction is a key component of this individuals responsibility, working with the other functions within the business to ensure the optimum supply strategy is achieved and maintained.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary.

People Management (20%):

  • Prioritization: Delegate and allocate manageable goals to employees to support company priorities and drive results. Set clear priorities for teams and individuals, including appropriate allocation of resources.

  • Performance Management: Set and measure goals. Provide performance assessments and feedback. Develop career development plans.

  • Team Culture: Hold employees accountable for upholding the organizations values. Foster an environment where employees feel able to provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement. Promote teamwork.

  • Communicate and Motivate: Communicate regular business updates. Convey information in a clear and timely manner. Listen carefully to the views and opinions of peers and colleagues.

Procurement Strategy (20%):

  • Develop Procurement strategy to support Laticretes overall Strategic Plan. Activities include determining which suppliers can best meet the companys needs by evaluating their product capability, cost competitiveness, and quality, service.

  • Locate sources of materials and services on a Global basis. Evaluate them through analysis and competitive bids, conduct negotiations and secure agreements/contracts to assure optimum value is achieved. Verify agreements are fully implemented and the commitments are realized.

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives in the Procurement/Purchasing area to assure Laticrete realizes the greatest delivered value possible. Key components may include joint process improvements, specification optimization, and volume concentration in addition to price/cost optimization. Assuring product quality, service levels and reliability are maintained or improved.

  • Track data on current and future market conditions and trends as it relates to suppliers and the factors that affect their cost. Forecast potential impact on price and availability of raw materials. Develop strategic procurement plans to minimize price increases and maximize opportunities.

  • Drive internal improvements that impact service levels, product quality, and reliability to LATICRETE International customers.

  • Develop, document, and implement risk mitigation strategies encompassing price, business continuity, and capacity issues with appropriate contingency plans.

  • Lead, develop and implement inventory control management strategy including, but not limited to, setting safety stock levels, reorder point levels, lead time levels, and order quantity levels.

Supplier Relationship Management (20%):

  • Develop Supplier risk strategies encompassing price, business, and capacity issues with appropriate contingency plans.

  • Develop and maintain relationship with all key suppliers. Leverage these relationships to maximize value proposition to Laticrete both in North America and Internationally.

  • Manage supplier relationships to encourage supplier innovations, technology advances and process improvements in line with Laticretes objectives and strategies.

  • Track performance of major suppliers to evaluate and analyze vendor capability and performance in all key areas including quality, service, and responsiveness to issues and requests.

  • Maintain regular communication with current suppliers and work collaboratively to resolve ongoing issues and to promote continuous improvement/cost reductions on a proactive basis.

Procurement (40%):

  • Manage multi-plant responsibility for purchasing raw material, packaging, and MRO items. Develop, implement, and maintain Laticrete purchasing procedures and policies at all locations in accordance with corporate values and guidelines.

  • Provide support for ERP system. Ensure proper use of the system when purchasing items to maximize efficiency and assure the system is utilized for its maximum benefit in the Procurement area.

  • Ensure Procurement practices and procedures result in good inventory management systems which includes tracking usage and having proper min/max levels, reorder points, etc.

  • Support the New Product Develop (NPD) process, working with Marketing and R&D to assure that new raw materials and packaging are sourced and acquired in a timely manner.

  • Provide the necessary inputs for the annual budget working with the Finance department to ensure that standards are appropriately established for the upcoming year.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Finance required; Master Degree in Business or Procurement/Purchasing related disciplines preferred.

  • 10 years experience working in Procurement/Purchasing, with at least five (5) years in the chemical or process industry preferred.

  • 5+ Years supervisory/management experience preferred.

  • Preferred certifications: CPM, CPIM, CSCP, or others.

  • Extensive Project Management experience desired.

Specialized Skills and Experience :

  • Organized in scheduling and executing responsibilities and prioritizing in a dynamic multitask environment.

  • Adaptive/flexible initiative-taker with strong initiative and drive, requiring minimal supervision.

  • Strong negotiation skills with good relationship management capabilities.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking capability and the ability to translate and execute the actions required.

  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong business and financial acumen.

  • Sound decision making capability with good project management skills.

  • Effective leadership, team building and facilitation skills in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of utilizing/improving ERP systems, JDE1 preferred, in the areas of procurement/purchasing and inventory management.

  • In-depth knowledge developing and implementing inventory control management strategies including, but not limited to, setting safety stock levels, reorder point levels, lead time levels, and order quantity levels.

Travel Requirement:

  • Domestic and International Travel required up to 25%.

  • Must be able to obtain a passport.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must pass pre-employment physical.

  • Lift: Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 20 pounds.

  • Push/Pull: Must be able to push/pull 20 pounds.

  • Stand: Must be able to stand 15 % of the day.

  • Sitting: Must be able to sit 70% of the day.

  • Twisting/Bending: Must be able to twist/bend 15% of the day.

  • Squatting, Climbing and/or Crawling: Must be able to squat/climb/crawl 5% of the day.
