Job InfoPOSITION: Union: Damage Prevention QA QC Inspector (Local 470) (SCG-CT-Marsh Hill)(43104)NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 2LOCATION: SCG-CT-Marsh HillJob PurposeReview and ensure accuracy of markouts submitted by the Markout Technicians. Provide quality controls and assurance for gas operation required system protection activities. Coordinates and maintains a dialogue with internal markout technicians, contracting and construction firms, governmental agencies, utility associates, public works, and highway departments to assure system protection of gas distribution facilities. Provides quantitative analysis for required gas operations activities.Job Responsibilities* Provide quality control for main and service markouts completed by Company markout technicians.* Coordinate and maintain a dialogue with internal markout technicians, contracting and construction firms, governmental agencies, utility associates, public works, and highway departments to assure system protection of gas distribution facilities.* Conduct audits of completed mark out requests by Company markout technicians.* Report hazardous and abnormal operating conditions to contractor representative and immediate supervisor.* Assist Company markout technicians with main and service locates where applicable to achieve quality mark outs.* Review available maps and records to ensure accuracy of information for markouts. Investigate and coordinate resolution of mapping issues between field operations and technical services when needed.* Act as the competent Company representative during excavations near critical facilities.* Submit QA/QC inspection and audit forms on markouts completed by markout technicians.* May report to and assist supervisor with excavator damage investigations.* Analyze and identify patterns in inspection and audit findings and propose future inspection schedule to supervision.* Monitor excavation activities of Second- and Third-Party Contractors. Ensure CBYD Excavator Manual and the PURA Excavation Near Underground Utility Facilities Regulation is adhered to. Document interactions and site information in Company software.* Immediately report Third Party Excavator CBYD violations to supervision and submit Damage Access reports with pictures and video for review and approval.* Conduct virtual and field pre-construction meetings to formulate a strategy for underground locating of large construction projects.* Communicate with town and state paving contractors to ensure valve risers and covers are properly allocated.* Review and report follow-up on blasting and cast iron encroachment tickets to supervision.* Assist the supervisor in training and acts as a technical expert in underground locating activities.* May be required to fill in for the Supervisor of Damage Prevention as needed.* May be required to allocate department resources and locate requests on a daily basis.* May be required to mark out and complete routine and emergency CBYD tickets.* Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history.Education and ExperienceExperience* Minimum of 2 years' experience in locating underground utilities.* Knowledge of field computers, software applications, database management, and data analysis.* Knowledge of gas operations, construction, procedures, safety manual, emergency response, procedures, and instrumentation.* Knowledge of construction maps and drawingsEducation* Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience preferred.
