Title: Sr. Research Associate or Research Scientist - Drug Discovery

Responsibilities

  • Perform miniaturized drug screens with SEngine’s 3D tissue organoid platform, using liquid handling robotics (i.e. ECHO or Felix), to support SEngine’s growing drug discovery pipeline.
  • Grow and expand 2D and 3D cell cultures for drug screening.
  • Work closely with software developers to identify bottlenecks and implement automation steps to improve efficiency of cell-based drug screening.
  • Organize and analyze data following established SOPs.
  • Generate reports that effectively convey data generated, placing it in the broader context of drug discovery and cancer biology.
  • Provide and present progress reports to the leadership team.
  • Ensure workflow and deliverables are on track and aligned with broader drug discovery strategies and timelines.
  • Maintain relationships and communicate strategies with internal teams to ensure alignment of drug discovery goals and facilitate efficient program execution.
  • Contribute to team management best practices to ensure high level of sustainable performance.


Requirements

  • Masters in Science with 3+ years relevant experience or a PhD with relevant experience.
  • Experience with liquid handling and robotics technology, and associated programming.
  • Medium- or high-throughput screening experience with demonstrated capability to develop laboratory automation methods.
  • Ability to troubleshoot critical liquid handling equipment and processes.
  • Experience with sterile technique and handling human cell culture models.
  • Expertise in cell viability assays and other cell-based assays.
  • Aptitude for integrating inputs from multiple stakeholders to formulate comprehensive experimental plans.
  • Ability to prioritize workflows based on the ‘big picture’ to meet milestone deadlines and execute on deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, timeline-driven environment.
  • Excellent time-management, critical thinking, decision-making skills, and attention to detail.
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate work products and needs to a diverse team of biologists, software engineers, and data scientists.

  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand

  • Ability to sit for lengthy periods of time
  • Ability to stand for lengthy periods of time in a lab environment
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Ability to learn innovative technology (i.e., computer software, online programs, company systems, etc.) that enhance productivity and improve performance 
  • Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work
  • Ability to sequence tasks in a certain order or pattern according to a specific process / project requirements and schedule
