The Connecticut Humane Society in Westport is looking for a part-time veterinarian to join our dedicated staff. We are looking for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys working with a mission-driven organization. This position is a combination of shelter and public medicine serving both owned and shelter pets. The ideal candidate would be responsible for managing a variety of cases from routine preventive medicine to challenging surgical cases. The practitioner will be responsible for performing soft tissue surgeries, routine dentistry, dental extractions, and spay/neuter, including pediatric S/N. The chosen candidate will work closely with the district manager to provide care and treatment plans, as well as their colleagues at our other locations supporting case management and animal movement through the medical system.Connecticut Humane Society is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V.Position OverviewTitle: Part Time Shelter VeterinarianOverview: This part-time position is located at our Westport facility. A current license to practice veterinary medicine in Connecticut and ability to register with the DEA and Connecticut Controlled Substance Registry as a Practitioner is required. This candidate must also possess strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for a compassionate, flexible individual who can work well with the public and the veterinary team providing excellent medicine in a fulfilling environment. Current license to practice in the US, will help obtain state licensure if needed.Experience: 3-5 years working in a clinic or shelter setting or experienced clinician.Skills: Ability to perform soft tissue and spay/neuter surgery. Diagnose and prescribe treatments for diseases and medical conditions, ability to perform physically strenuous activities which will require lifting of moderate to heavy weights (up to 40 lbs.), standing and/or bending, walking and/or controlling dogs and/or cats, use of cleaning solutions, and sitting at a desk for long periods of time.Technology: Proficiency in computers and on-line medical records
