Role Summary:Telemus Family Office division is growing and we are looking for a part-time Accounting Associate to join the team. The Family Office team works closely with high net-worth families and individuals on reducing the administrative burden often placed on families when it comes to managing their wealth. This role will work closely with the Director, Family Office, on services we offer to clients such as bill pay, account reconciliations and oversight, private investment tracking and document management. This role primarily works out of our Southfield, MI office. This position is part-time (approximately 15 hours/week) with the opportunity for additional hours and professional growth over time. Key Responsibilities: Perform monthly reconciliations of bank and brokerage accounts Monitor daily, weekly cash positions for various accounts and ensure adequate funding Monitor and record credit card transactions Review expense classifications for reasonableness Provide high touch client interaction in responding to clients requests and inquiries Research and resolve issues or discrepancies with clients accounts, bill pay or invoices Build relationships with external professionals and advisors Gather data for tax return preparation and provide to CPA Prepare, review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information. Gather documentation needed to onboarding new clients and update applicable systems. Utilization of the firm s software to maintain the accuracy and integrity of electronic recordkeeping and update client information in the relevant systems. Private investment tracking Handling special projects as neededDesired Skills & Experience: Bachelor s degree required. Ideal candidates will have majored in accounting or finance. 1-3 years of experience in accounting, accounts payable or bookkeeping experience Experience with individual and business tax planning and preparation Familiar with entity structure ownership and organization Ability to organize data in precise manner following prescribed formats Takes initiative to find/suggest ways to improve processes/procedures Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Quickbooks and Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel Strong attention to detail is a must Demonstrated analytical capabilities including the ability to synthesize complex data High accountability with ability to work independently, within a team and cross-functionally Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills Strong desire to continually self-develop demonstrated through intellectual curiosity and personal learning Adhere to the highest level of confidentiality
