WHAT YOU WILL DO

Manages plant manufacturing operations, supply chain requirements and quality expectations with the safe and efficient operation of production processes, in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Must effectively recruit, hire, train and retain a qualified direct labor workforce.

Must be receptive to change and integrate new processes, technology, and work methods into plant operations. Champion safety, environmental and continuous improvement efforts to optimize productivity. Benchmark other operations to identify and develop best practices to apply within Wallingford operations. Work to achieve and build an engaged workforce driven to self directed ownership of processes that achieve the short and long term strategic goals of the organization.

WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS

  • Acts as the Plant Manager during absence.
  • Ensure safe and incident-free operations through compliance with Roehm and site ESH standards through daily attention to safety practices, work conditions and training. Audit the workplace to validate adherence to specified standards.
  • Direct Production Resources, Process Engineering and Production Operators to achieve production targets regarding volumes, yields, quality and cost.
  • Attain production efficiency and effectiveness objectives by providing direction to Process Engineering,Production Resources and other support personnel with respect to process optimization, troubleshooting, training, production reporting etc. Ensure that Production Resources similarly guide the Operations workforce. Utilize Continuous Improvement tools to manage these effort.
  • Conduct plant operations to safeguard the environment and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Maintain good work practices in all areas concerning leaks / spills and the handling of waste products.
  • Effectively use productive management techniques to engage the Operations workforce in the operation of the plant. Provide guidance on Shutdown/Start-ups and Maintenance/Operations Planning & Scheduling.
  • Response to develop site budgets and operate to the budget. Acts as the plant contact to the Financial concerning forecasted and actual spending.
  • Act as the primary Roehm Operations liaison with the Union for all matters concerning the potential deviations from the contract. Provide guidance to the Plant Manager on Union grievances and contractual related issues and opportunities. Research and act upon employee requests and recommendations.
  • Ensure the adequacy and implementation of and adherence to the plant's Quality Systems. Champion quality improvement projects driving the plant towards zero customer complaints. Participate in quality complaint investigation and resolution.
  • Establish challenging goals and assignments and provide timely and effective feedback for review of progress and performance. Administer the performance management process to enhance employee productivity and morale.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and ten years of practical experience in a process industries manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and accomplishment in manufacturing supervision/management, practical (shop floor) leadership, and employee development.
  • Demonstrated confidence and competence in both written and oral communications.
  • Working knowledge of standards, programs, processes, and practices in process and occupational safety, environmental compliance, and quality management systems in an OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety Management facility.
  • Experience working in a union represented environment.
  • Lean/Total Productive Management background or experience. Continuous improvement mindset
  • Knowledge of SAP.
