Chief Financial Officer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer
CORE FUNCTIONS
Strategy and Planning
- Act as a strategic business partner to the CEO and the Board of Directors provides timely insight into current financial health as well as financial ramifications of various future scenarios.
- With input from other senior managers, develop the annual operating budget for approval by the Board of Directors including contingencies for operational adjustments to maintain a balanced budget.
- Assess and evaluate the longer-term financial performance of RNP and the risks of various revenue sources and investment strategies.
- As part of the Executive Team, evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing work efficiency.
- Communicate, engage and interact with internal constituents such as program management and senior management so they can build an understanding of the financial impact they have.
- Assist in the creation of yearly financial objectives that align with RNP s plan for growth and expansion.
- In support of fundraising efforts, serve as part of the grant team and provide all financial information required as part of grant applications to private funders and government agencies.
- Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Financial Reporting and Management
- Ensure accurate production of monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors and key senior managers which include actual vs. budget, periodic reforecasts and other financial metrics as required.
- Provide supervision and performance evaluation for finance division staff and ensure that staff are trained in relevant databases and financial software.
- Oversee vendor and grant contract management.
- Ensure all financial records and billing practices comply with applicable state and federal requirements.
- Responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting for all government agencies and funding sources of RNP as well as compliance with tax and other regulatory requirements.
- Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to for financial function with IT staff.
- Ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial policies and review periodically in conjunction with auditors.
- Assist outside auditors in the preparation of the annual audit and 990 form.
- Ensure financial policies and procedures are documented and current while also ensuring finance staff are well-versed and cross-trained on different procedures.
- Establish and maintain relationships with finance-related partners such as insurance, real estate, banking and brokerage firms.
- Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
CORE COMPETENCIES
Master's degree in a related field plus ten (10) years of experience in leadership/management roles preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five (5) years of experience in a Senior/Executive role in non-profit/behavioral healthcare management required.
Exceptional experience, knowledge and skill in the following is strongly preferred:
- Ability to work in a strong partnership with the CEO and to earn the confidence of the BOD.
- Enthusiasm for being part of a leadership team to instill fiscal accountability throughout RNP.
- Strategic planning.
- Accounting principles and practices.
- Financial analysis, projection and planning, including the use of operational metrics.
- Innovative thinking and planning in cost saving and revenue generating strategies.
- Experience work with Medicaid, private insurance and patient billing including CMS and CMAP.
- Extensive business acumen.
- Effective leadership and management skills.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Systems analysis and implementation including the bridging financial and other RNP systems.
- Working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance related issues.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES
Incumbents may be required to secure professional certification and/or license.
